Tags: P2 Theme Header White Strip,

See the above header area of the P2 Theme in Full Site view, & that big white strip that sits on top of any header pic &/or background pic you upload (& in Mobile version it is a big dark grey bar right across your header pic, covering most of the pic!)

Even if you TURN ***OFF*** “Blog Title in Header” option in Header/Settings, the big giant WHITE STRIP (GREY/Mobile) REMAINS!

AND… Even if you REMOVE all text from Title & Tagline (in Settings/General), the big WHITE STRIP/Full Site & big GREY BAR/Mobile Version REMAINS!

This has got to be the biggest blooper of them all & ruins an otherwise decent theme >> P2 is the ONLY “live streaming updates/activity” THEME that offers, so there are no other choices!

Blog Titles should NEVER be placed ON TOP OF a header pic (unless you have your own brand/logo). And ESPECIALLY in Mobile version should the header pic not be over-ridden by the blog title/tagline since the pic is small enough as it is in mobile!

Always put the Blog Title & Tagline ABOVE or BELOW header pic area, not IN the pic area! &/or an OPTION to do so.

It seems programmers do not “think things through” when designing so many of these themes.

If anyone knows a widget code that will REMOVE the white strip (for WP.COM FREEBIE SITES w/NO CSS UPGRADE), please do advise!

P2 THEME Using Double Headlines Due to Mobile…

P2 THEME: Using Double-Headlines Due to the “Forced” Mobile Version

I don’t know that this applies to ALL cellphones & ALL cellphone-browsers, but the mobile I’m using is not showing the posts’ headlines — even though I have the FORMAT DEFAULT set to STANDARD (not “Status”) in Settings/Writing, & in P2 “Theme Options” I have checked “SHOW POST TITLES.” Evidently, the mobile version ignores those two pre-set options. Grrr.

For that reason (no headlines in my mobile view), I’m putting the headline also in the body-text area.

If you’re on a Desktop, you’ll see the normal headline & also a 2nd one in the body of the post. (So why don’t headlines show up in mobile version? Or do they on your phone? Not mine.)

The TAGS window in the mobile home page of P2 also is not working. Oh, it lets you type in some tags & even acts like it saved them when you tap Submit. But if you go to Admin./Posts/Edit Post, it shows zero tags & you have to do them again.

Which brings me to another huge gripe re too many WP themes: They FORCE mobile versions on us without any way to exit/escape the mobile version. Grrr. P2 Theme included (even Blogger lets you escape their miserable mobile versions by changing the m-1 at the end of the URL to m-0).

Give me FULL SITES ANYDAY over mobile versions which leave out too many options/features/content of Full NORMAL Sites. We have Pinch & Zoom, remember? We can do Full Sites >> Always the Preferred Choice over mobile versions. So why are devs so mobile crazy & assume we all want mobile sites? Guess what? WE DON’T!

Tags: Mobile Versions Bad, P2 Mobile Theme Sharing-Ratings-Likes Too Big!

…are all TOO BIG in the Mobile version & look terrible! All together they create a huge gap between the status updates in the Mobile version. Too much white space! They should be small & much closer together as to almost be unnoticeable (like they are in the Full Site version). As they are now, they are a DISTRACTION in the Mobile version.

They look fine in the Desktop version. And therein is the problem! You cannot choose to turn OFF various functions for Mobile & leave them ON for Desktop! So you have to either turn them all OFF or leave them all ON. Stuck between a rock & a hard place! Programmers need to THINK THINGS THROUGH when creating themes & blog systems.

UPDATE: I turned OFF the 5-star RATINGS for HOME page because there IS an option to do so.

But for the wp LIKE star/button, there is NO option to turn it OFF on Home Page only. It’s either ON for ALL, or OFF & turn ON PER POST.

SHARING buttons in MOBILE by themselves (without Ratings/Stars & Like/Star) are bearable but could do w/o the excessive white space. There IS an option to turn them OFF on Home Page, but out of the 3 choices (Ratings, Like, Sharing), which is most important? I decided SHARING is most important so will leave that up on Home Page (Mobile & Full Site).

    Tags: Links Quick Edit Needed

There IS a Quick Edit for Links/Categories, but there is NOT a Quick Edit for Individual Links. Why not? Instead you have to wait for the whole page to turn over just to change/fix one tiny thing, & then go back to main links page & do the next one, etc. How hard would it be, really, to add Quick Edit to individual links?

    Tags: Links Bulk Move Needed

Why is there not a simple way to bulk “MOVE” links from one category to another? The checkbox is already there (for bulk-DELETING ONLY). Why not add a bulk “MOVE” option? How hard, really, would that be?

Tags: Quick Post Publish Button Dead

Just tried the nifty Quick Post option (great idea!) at!/post/
but the PUBLISH button does not work. :( Too bad as I like the Quick Post idea (& the reason I want to use P2 Theme on other blogs because it lets you post quickly right from the home page, but cannot use P2 if the big white strip is going to ruin all header pics).

    Tags: Links Target_Blank as Default

All new links should have the Default as Target_Blank/Open in a New Window. That would be so efficient overall & then if you did NOT want Target_Blank, you would only have to change 1 or 2 & not have to set them ALL as Target_Blank as you do now with the way WP/Links is now set up.

    Didn’t Want Another Blog…

All I wanted was a separate ID for the support forums.

But since it forced a blog at signup, I’ll use this to test blog themes (sick & tired of having to redo all widgets, colors, header pics, etc. when testing a theme, which is a must as most WP Theme Descriptions NEVER provide all pertinent details).
